Anti-hero is needed more than ever, ruthlessly revealing the truth, recognizing evil and warning others not to miss the obvious, and hearing evil and doing every reasonable thing (and some unreasonable ones) to manifest the facts. The best part about the anti-hero is a selfless willingness to do "evil" when evil is good, and good is evil.
The anti-hero is not like the favorite superhero who is unwilling to cross certain boundaries to achieve a noble objective. The superhero's false-morality is dumb, blind, and allows lies and supports lousy policy or behavior. The superhero never confronts evil to destroy it but believes in "reform." The anti-hero knows better when confronting the extremes of deception. Deception must be exposed and destroyed even at the expense of personal popularity, or one's own life.
The anti-hero is the real deal, staring down both evil and the superhero who rationalizes it (and thus propagates the crime). As Albert Einstein said, "The world will not be destroyed by evil-doers, but by those who watch them without doing anything."
